Assessment

Each unit is assessed by one three-hour unseen written examination, and each half unit by one two-hour unseen written examination.

For units 60 Introduction to information systems and 139 Software engineering: theory and application coursework/a project also counts towards the assessment. Units 157 Independent geographical study and 159 Research project in information systems are assessed by coursework/a project only. Please note that these units are not available through the Graduate Entry Route.

You do not have to come to London to take your examinations. Examinations are held once a year in local overseas centres around the world as well as in London. Examinations overseas are arranged mainly through Ministries of Education or the British Council. You will be charged a fee by your local examination centre (this fee will vary). Examinations are held once a year, usually in May.

Classification: Undergraduate degrees are awarded with First Class Honours, Upper Second Class Honours, Lower Second Class Honours or Third Class Honours. If you do not qualify for Honours, you may be awarded a Pass classification.

The standard of the examination for degrees is the same as that for students studying at a College of the University.

This provides an opportunity for graduates of any discipline to gain an additional undergraduate degree by following a shorter than normal programme, successfully completing nine full units rather than twelve. This can normally be achieved in a minimum of two years with the exception of the BSc Economics, BSc Economics & Finance, BSc Development & Economics and the BSc Information Systems & Management.
