Information Systems Project
Prerequisites
– 62 Information systems development and management and
103 Elements of information and communication technologies
This subject consists
of an individual project undertaken by the student. The paper is intended
to consolidate material that is taught within the programme, and to
allow a student to develop deeper knowledge in a particular area of
interest. The scope of the project can range from a theoretical investigation
of some aspect of information systems, to practical systems analysis
or systems development for an outside client. In all cases a student
will be expected to explore relevant and up to date literature in information
systems, including literature on project management and research methods.
As part of the project students are expected to provide an account of
the development of the main elements of their work, as well as a critical
reflection on what they have achieved.
The subject will
be assessed on the basis of a final project report and a written examination.
The written examination addresses both the particular issues and insights
afforded by a student’s project, as well as general issues of
project management and the selection and evaluation of research approaches.
Note: Candidates
taking this unit are required to submit a project report.
