Students
should note that this list was compiled in January 2003. The list of
centres is revised each year and the definitive list of centres for
the examination concerned will be issued with the entry form, together
with a note of any restrictions imposed by the local authority.
Any
college or institution may apply to the University for the establishment
of a Local Centre for one or more of the examinations for External students.
Each application is subject to approval by the External System Lead
Colleges Committee and by the Senate. The University will not consider
an application from an individual student or group of students for the
establishment of a Local Centre.
All
examinations held at Local Centres take place on the same dates and
normally at the same time as the examinations in London. However, some
centres have permission to start early and it is important that candidates
should verify with the centre the correct time of their examinations.
In
most cases the centres are open only to students taking specified examinations.
Some centres are willing to accept candidates other than their own either
for examinations listed or for other examinations and this is indicated
below. Centres marked with an asterisk (*) will accept candidates not
attending the college both for the examinations listed and for other
examinations, provided that the dates coincide or that the candidate
undertakes to meet any additional expenses incurred.
Candidates
who take an examination at a Local Centre must take care to ascertain
the correct address of the centre at which the examination is to be
taken.
Candidates
sitting their examinations at a local centre are charged a local fee
in addition to the normal University fee for that examination.
The Authority responsible for the centre is responsible for the collection
of the local fee. The University takes no responsibility whatever either
for the amount of the fee charged or the collection or refund of such
fees. Details of the current fees may be obtained direct from the centre
concerned.
Arrangements
for oral/ aural examinations (when required) will be notified separately.
Students
must comply with the directions given in the Regulations relating to
the particular degree on the submission of course work, projects or
essays.
All
candidates sitting examinations at local centres must enclose a letter
of acceptance from the centre with the entry form. The University can
accept no responsibility for making arrangements on a candidate's behalf.
