International Management (China) (MSc and Postgraduate Diploma)

Study materials

When you first register, you will be provided with a comprehensive package of materials, which will consist of:

  • a Handbook giving you information on planning your studies and preparing for the examinations
  • Regulations
  • a booklet of tutor-marked assignments

And for each course you study:

  • a study guide, written by subject specialists, containing the core content for the courses and case studies
  • a reader, containing copies of articles and book chapters which have been specially selected from leading academic journals and books, either because they are considered classics or because they present the most recent developments in the field.
  • one or two textbooks
  • past examination papers, where a course has previously been examined, and, for some papers, Examiners' reports

You can buy study materials for new courses at any time of the year by paying the appropriate course fee. Study material is sent to you by courier.

Note: Examinations are held in May and October and both examinations in the same year will be based on the same study materials. Notice will be given on the World Wide Learning Community Website (WWLC) of any updates/revisions to materials for the following year.

Equipment you will need

You will need the following equipment in order to link to the WWLC:

  • Access to a personal computer that can access the World Wide Web (the Internet) via a local service provider. Any machine that can run Microsoft Office 97 or Microsoft Office 2000 will have the capability to operate on the World Wide Web, provided you have a modem or ISDN link to your local internet provider.

  • An up-to-date World Wide Web browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 4 or higher), or Netscape Navigator (version 4 or higher). If you only have an older browser then some of the facilities may not be available to you. The University will include links to enable you to download the browsers referred to earlier.

  • Appropriate software to read word-processed documents, slide presentations, spreadsheets, or databases – which may be included on the WWLC. Currently, the various packages (PowerPoint, Excel and Access) are included in Microsoft Office 97 or Microsoft Office 2000 Word. Where possible this information will also be given in other formats to enable access by the widest audience possible.
